Inking Royalty: I Think I Love You Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s January Blog Hop!

This year’s Blog Hop themes will be inspired by popular songs – the first is “I Think I Love You.” Our Blog Hop today is jam-packed with projects that are perfect for Valentine’s Day or that showcase love. How sweet is that?! We are excited to share our love-themed creations with you today. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Stampin'Up! Petal Palette stamp set, Ceelbrate You thinlits, Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper, Valentine, DIY, papercrafting

Details:

  • The card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ Stampin’Up! Thick Whisper White Cardstock.I adore this cardstock as a base. The trick is to lightly score the cardstock before folding for a crisp clean line.
  • The top layer of Whisper White measures 3 3/4 x 5″. It like this bolder border (say that 3x fast!!) for a simple card layout.
  • I created a negative image using the Celebrate You thinlits from the Stampin’Up! SaleABration Catalog. These are free with a $100 purchase and are my favorite offering this year. I made a light line with a pencil to help me line up the images. Another little tip? By placing them in the bottom corner I don’t have to worry about centering the sentiments vertically. Make sure to keep the middle of the O and adhere with a mini dimensional.
  • The striking Painted with Love Specialty Designer peeks thru the negative space and is just perfect! The gold foil on this paper is always so hard to photograph, but in person? Oo-la-la
  • I added a little banner on the left side showcasing our Gold Glimmer Paper, Calypso Coral Ombre Ribbon and a sentiment from the Petal Palette stamp set inked in Melon Mambo.
  • Loads of dimensionals give it some pop.

Valentines for The Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop!

The Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop

I remember when the kiddos were little and we made dozens and dozens of Valentines for their school mates, family and our neighbors. In the past couple of years I haven’t done a lot of Valentine cards aside those for my fella, my parents, and to stick in goodie boxes to send to the college kids.

I have decided to up my Valentine game this year and have a list of people I want to be sure know how special they are to me. I’m not going to ruin the surprise by telling you who, but lets just say I have a lot of crafting coming up in the next few weeks.

I think this card will be perfect for mass producing AND making the recipient feel special.

Stampin'Up! Sure Do Love You bundle, Lots to Love Box Framelits, Valentine, DIY, Papaercraft, Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper, clean and simple, CAS, card layout

Details:

  • The card base is Stampin’Up! Thick Whisper White cardstock. i adore this cardstock for the base as it is really nice and sturdy. I scored it at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ for a nice crisp fold line.
  • The Whisper White Cardstock layer measures 3 3/4 x 5″ creating a nice wide border. This card is pretty simple in design and that wider border helps create a little more visual interest.
  • The Pink Pirouette layer is 3 1/4 x 3 1/4″ and the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper is 3 x 3. Can we have a moment for that beautiful paper? The gold that runs thru it gives it a lovely rich feel, worthy of a card that says “I Love You”.
  • Both the heart and the sentiment are from the Sure Do Love You stamp set and are cropped out using the Lots to Love Box Framelits. These come as a bundle and when purchased together saves you 10% #winning
  • I added a little gold foil doily and a wrap of Fresh Fig Finely Woven Ribbon

I Love You with Thoughtful Banners

Be still my heart, this is one precious card! You know how it is that you have something in your head and then you start to create and it doesn’t turn out quite like you thought? Yeah, I go thru a lot of cardstock that way lol. But this took only 2 tries (don’t ask about the first one!) and I am so happy with it!

Stampin'Up! thoughtful Banners stamp set, Avant Garden stamp set, Valentine card, DIY, papercrafts, rubberstamping

  • Details:
  • The color combo is Stampin’Up! Real Red, Whisper White and Pink Pirouette
  • Stampin'Up! color combo, real red, whisper white, pink pirouette
  • I am such a Blushing Bride girl most of the time, but I love the look of Pink Pirouette with Real Red.
  • The Thick Whisper White Cardstock #cardbaseofthegods meaasures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″, the Pink Pirouette layer is 5 1/4 x 4″, the top Whisper White layer is 5 x 3 3/4″. The focal point measures 2 1/2 x 2 1/2″ and is backed by another layer of Whisper White measuring 2 3/4 x 2 3/4″
  • The Sweetheart Punch was used to punch an image out of a post it note. That made it easy to position on the cardstock and then remove when I was done.
  • I placed the Heart/Post i on the square of Whisper White and inked up the sweet little dots from Avant Garden (a Stampin’Up! SaleABration stamp set) first in Pink Pirouette and then Real Red. Each time I inked the image I stamped several times to get a variation of intensity.
  • The “I Love You” is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set found in the Stampin’Up! Annual Catalog. I love all the little phrases in that set. Perfect to use with the coordinating bunch or with any other images.
  • Even though our Linen Thread looks tough, it is is so earthy and natural and works perfectly with this sweet card and soft images.
  • Dimensionals between layers add visual interest, and just make me really happy 😉

Avant Garden, a bright and cheery start to Monday

gotta be honest this morning, I am usually quite a fan of Monday morning…..but today is going to take a lot of caffeine to get me on board. Between all the negative chatter on Facebook and my dear Packers getting pretty much blown out yesterday, I am struggling this morning! Luckily Monday is “stamp day” for me…..a couple hours just to create will definitely turn this day around and start the week out on the right foot!

And it is hard to be pitiful when I am sharing this super sweet card. It is so easy and cheerful, the perfect antidote to a case of the Mondays 🙂

Stampin'Up! Avant Garden stamp set, SaleABration, free with a minimum $50 order, blue, yellow, handmade, DIY, valentine

Details:

  • The color combo is Dapper Denim, Whisper White and Daffodil Delight
  • Stampin'Up! color combo, dapper denim, whisper white, daffodil delight
  • Measurements are Thick Whisper White Cardstock base 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″, Whisper White top layer 5 1/4 x 4″, Daffodil Delight strip 1 x 4 1/4″, and the largest oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits
  • I made A LOT of these cards this weekend to send out to customers and team members so I worked “assembly line” style. First I cut all my card bases. since I was using the Thick Whisper White cardstock I also lightly scored them to make sure I got a crisp fold.
  • Then I cut and embossed all the Whisper White layers. I used the Petal Burst embossing folders. This wasn’t one of my favs right off the bat but I am reaching for it more and more these days.
  • Then I cropped all of the Ovals using the Stitched Shapes framelits.
  • Then I stamped all those sweet flowers in Daffodil Delight and then the middles and sentiment in Dapper Denim. I love when a stamp set has such beautiful images and great greetings, always feels like a bonus!
  • I like to add all the dimensionals to the back of my layers, tie on all the ribbons, etc and then have all my pieces ready to go so I can just put them all together.
